Estimates of Benefits
If you are approaching retirement, you can request a estimate of benefits by sending a request in writing to Bedfordshire Pension Fund. For information on how to get in touch see our contacts page.
Annual Benefit Statements are sent out every year. The statements show the current value of members' Local Government pension with Bedfordshire Pension Fund including any service which may have been transferred in; the statements also show estimated pension benefits payable at Normal Pension Age. See our Annual Benefit Statements page for more information.
Normal Pension Age in the LGPS is linked to the State Pension Age (but with a minimum of age 65). If the State Pension Age changes in the future then this change will also apply to Normal Pension Age for benefits built up after 31 March 2014.
You can choose to retire and draw your pension from the LGPS at any time from age 55 to 75, provided you have met the 2 year vesting period in the scheme. If you choose to take your pension before your Normal Pension Age it will normally be reduced, as it’s being paid before it is due.
The benefits quoted on any estimate you receive may change before the date your benefits are to be paid, due to actuarial factors which the Government can change from time to time. You should take this into account when making any decisions concerning your LGPS benefits.
If you require an estimate of your pension benefits for any purpose other than future retirement, such as mortgage or legal representation, please write to Bedfordshire Pension Fund stating the reason why you need the estimate and we will be happy to ensure the correct information is issued to you.
Bedfordshire Pension Fund does not accept requests for redundancy or efficiency estimates from individual members. These requests must be made through the employer's Human Resources department.
