Estimates of benefits

If you are getting close to retirement, you can ask for an estimate of your LGPS pension benefits by writing to or emailing Bedfordshire Pension Fund.  For information on how to get in touch see our contacts page.  You can also sign up for our online service, My Pension Online, to carry out your own estimate calculations.

Annual benefit statements are sent out every year.  The statements show the value of your LGPS pension with Bedfordshire Pension Fund, including any benefits that you may have transferred in.  The statements also show the estimated pension benefits that would be paid to you at your normal pension age (NPA).  See our annual benefit statements page for more information.

Normal pension age in the LGPS is linked to the State Pension age (but with a minimum of age 65).  If the State Pension age changes in the future then this change will also apply to your NPA for benefits built up after 31 March 2014.

You can choose to retire and draw your pension from the LGPS at any time from age 55 to 75, provided you have met the 2 year vesting period in the scheme. If you choose to take your pension before your NPA it will normally be reduced, as it’s being paid early.

The Government has announced that the earliest age you can take your pension will increase from 55 to 57 from 6 April 2028.  Please go to our regulation changes page for more information.

The benefits shown on any estimate you get from the pension fund may change before the date your benefits are to be paid to you.  This could be because of changes to your pay, or if the government makes changes to factors which might be used when we work out your benefits.  You should remember this when making any decisions about your LGPS benefits.

If you need an estimate of your pension benefits for any reason other than future retirement, such as for a mortgage or legal reasons, please write to or email Bedfordshire Pension Fund giving the reason why you need the estimate and we will make sure the right information is sent to you.

Bedfordshire Pension Fund can't take requests for redundancy, efficiency, flexible retirement or ill-health retirement estimates from individual members.  Your employer's Human Resources department will need to ask us for these types of estimates.
