Do I have deferred benefits?
If you were employed in Local Government in Bedfordshire and paid into the LGPS for a certain length of time you will have a deferred benefit in the Bedfordshire Pension Fund if you left that employment before retirement age or if you opted out of the scheme. You may have a deferred benefit if:
- You left the scheme after 1 April 2014 with at least 2 years' membership
- You left the scheme between 1 April 2004 and 31 March 2014 with at least 3 months' membership (or had transferred in previous pension rights).
- You left the scheme between 6 April 1988 and 31 March 2004, with at least 2 years' membership (or had transferred in previous pension rights).
- You left the scheme before 6 April 1988, with at least 5 years' membership.
If you left the scheme and were not entitled to a deferred benefit then you may be entitled to a refund of your contributions if you have not already claimed it.
You will not have any deferred benefits with the Bedfordshire Pension Fund if you transferred your pension rights to another pension provider.
If you are unsure whether or not you have deferred benefits with Bedfordshire Pension Fund, you can ask us to investigate by completing our pension tracing form.
